Three Poems

Consisting of three choruses composed by myself, Three Poems is in memory of the three greatest poets from 1980s China: Xi Chuan(西川), Hai Zi(海子), Luo Yi He(骆一禾). All studying in Peking University, the three important poets are very close friends who, together, witnessed the rise and fall of the so-called Golden Age of China. In this "partita", I choose one poem by each poet, of which Hai Zi's Diary (日记) is known as the peak of his romantic poems while Xi Chuan's Twilight (暮色)  and Luo Yi He's Faraway (远方) are (for me) perfect Intro and Finale for Hai Zi's poem.

The three poems are just like the lives of the three poets -- Hai Zi killed himself in 1989 Spring; Xi Chuan then gradually stopped his poet writing; Luo Yi He died accidentally two months after Hai Zi's death, when he was collecting Hai Zi's posthumous work.
